1. Purpose of the Policy
The Institute of Islamic Banking & Takaful (IIBT) is an international educational, professional, and research institution dedicated to the advancement of Islamic Banking, Islamic Finance, Takaful, FinTech, and Shariah Governance.
This Student Academic & Program Policy establishes the general academic framework, student responsibilities, learning arrangements, assessment procedures, conduct requirements, and certification principles applicable to students enrolled in IIBT programs.
The policy is intended to ensure academic quality, transparency, professional integrity, and a consistent learning experience across IIBT's international presence.
2. Institutional Presence and Certification
IIBT maintains an international presence and academic/professional activities in:

Malaysia
Pakistan
Turkey
United Arab Emirates
United Kingdom
Unless specifically stated otherwise for an approved program or institutional arrangement, certificates for IIBT programs are issued by the Institute of Islamic Banking & Takaful.
International offices, representatives, academic partners, coordinators, or learning centres may facilitate student support, teaching, training, examinations, or other academic activities in accordance with IIBT's approved arrangements.
3. Mode of Study
IIBT follows a flexible hybrid learning model designed to accommodate students, working professionals, international participants, and learners from different geographical locations.
Depending on the program, the learning experience may include:
Live online classes
Online learning sessions
Distance learning
Recorded lectures
Digital learning materials
Assignments and projects
Recommended textbooks and reference books
Case studies
Presentations
Tutorials and academic discussions

4. Student Eligibility and Admission
Students must satisfy the admission requirements specified for their selected program.
IIBT reserves the right to request appropriate academic or professional information for admission, placement, or verification purposes.
Admission to one program does not automatically guarantee admission to another program. Each program may have its own academic, professional, or experiential requirements.
Students are responsible for providing accurate information during the admission process.
5. Student Responsibilities
Every IIBT student is expected to:
Participate actively in the learning process.
Attend scheduled live classes and academic activities where applicable.
Watch assigned recorded lectures within the prescribed period.
Complete assignments and assessments on time.
Read recommended textbooks, articles, cases, and other learning materials.
Maintain regular communication with faculty and academic coordinators.
Observe academic integrity and professional ethics.
Respect faculty members, fellow students, staff, and institutional partners.
Maintain the confidentiality of restricted academic materials.
Follow all applicable IIBT academic and administrative policies.
6. Attendance and Participation
Where attendance is a requirement of a particular program, students must meet the prescribed attendance or participation requirements.
For online programs, participation may be demonstrated through attendance at live sessions, engagement with recorded lectures, submission of assignments, participation in discussions, completion of learning activities, or other methods specified by the program.
Students experiencing genuine difficulties should communicate with the relevant academic coordinator as early as possible.
7. Assignments and Academic Assessment
Assessment may consist of one or more of the following:
Written assignments
Quizzes
Case studies
Presentations
Projects
Research papers
Online assessments
Written examinations
Oral examinations or presentations
Practical or professional assessments
Research Thesis
Assessment requirements will be communicated to students for each program.
Students must submit their own work and comply with the instructions and deadlines established by the Institute.
8. Academic Integrity
IIBT places strong emphasis on honesty, ethical conduct, and academic integrity.
Students must not engage in:
Plagiarism
Cheating
Fabrication or falsification of information
Unauthorized collaboration
Misrepresentation of academic work
Impersonation
Submission of work prepared by another person
Unauthorized use of examination or assessment materials
Where academic misconduct is established, IIBT may impose appropriate academic or administrative action, including rejection of an assignment, reassessment, failure of an assessment, suspension, or cancellation of enrolment/certification, subject to the circumstances and applicable institutional procedures.
9. Use of Artificial Intelligence
Students may use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools only where permitted by the relevant course or assessment instructions.
AI tools must not be used to misrepresent generated material as entirely the student's original work where originality is required.
Students may be required to acknowledge or disclose the use of AI in assignments, research, or other academic work.
IIBT may establish program-specific AI policies where appropriate.
10. Learning Materials and Intellectual Property
Lectures, recorded classes, presentations, course materials, examination materials, manuals, digital resources, and other educational content provided by IIBT are intended for the enrolled student's academic use.
Students must not reproduce, sell, distribute, publish, upload, commercially exploit, or share restricted IIBT materials without prior written authorization.
11. Recommended Books and Independent Learning
IIBT recognizes independent study as an important component of professional and academic development.
Students may be provided with recommended textbooks, articles, research papers, case studies, standards, and other resources.
Students are expected to undertake appropriate independent reading and research in addition to attending classes or viewing recorded lectures.
12. Fees and Financial Obligations
Students are responsible for paying applicable tuition, registration, examination, certification, or other approved fees within the specified deadlines.
Program fees, payment schedules, refund provisions, and other financial conditions shall be communicated separately through the applicable admission or program documentation.
Failure to meet financial obligations may affect access to learning resources, assessment, examination, or certification, subject to IIBT policy.
13. Examinations and Assessment Arrangements
Where examinations are required, IIBT may conduct them through online, physical, supervised, or other approved arrangements depending on the program.
Students must comply with examination instructions, identity verification requirements where applicable, examination rules, and deadlines.
IIBT reserves the right to modify assessment arrangements where necessary to maintain academic integrity, security, and quality.
14. Progression and Completion
Students must successfully complete the academic and assessment requirements prescribed for their program.
Completion may depend on:
Satisfactory participation
Completion of required learning activities
Successful submission of assignments
Achievement of required assessment results
Successful completion of examinations where applicable
Fulfilment of financial and administrative requirements
Program-specific completion requirements shall prevail where they differ from this general policy.
15. Certification
Students who successfully fulfil the requirements of an approved IIBT program may be awarded the relevant certificate, diploma, or other approved academic/professional credential.
Unless otherwise expressly stated in official program documentation, the certificate will be issued by:
Institute of Islamic Banking & Takaful (Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey, UAE and UK)
Certificates may include appropriate information regarding the program, student's name, completion date, certificate number, and authorized signatures/seals.
IIBT may maintain a certificate verification system to confirm the authenticity of certificates issued by the Institute.
16. Student Conduct
Students are expected to maintain high standards of personal, academic, and professional conduct.
Discrimination, harassment, abusive behaviour, threats, disruption of academic activities, fraudulent conduct, or behaviour damaging to the reputation or integrity of IIBT may result in disciplinary action.
Students participating in online classes must also maintain appropriate professional behaviour and communication.
17. Complaints and Appeals
Students who have concerns regarding academic, administrative, assessment, or other matters should first communicate with the relevant academic coordinator or designated IIBT office.
Where appropriate, students may submit a formal written complaint or appeal in accordance with the Institute's applicable procedures.
All complaints and appeals should be submitted within the prescribed timeframe and supported by relevant information or documentation.
18. Privacy and Student Information
IIBT may collect and process student information for legitimate academic, administrative, examination, certification, communication, and institutional purposes.
Student information shall be handled in accordance with applicable laws and institutional privacy policies.
Students should not share confidential information relating to other students, faculty, examinations, or institutional operations without authorization.
19. Changes to Programs and Policies
IIBT reserves the right to make reasonable changes to academic programs, course structures, delivery methods, assessment arrangements, schedules, learning resources, and institutional policies when necessary.
Where significant changes affect enrolled students, IIBT will communicate the changes through appropriate channels.
20. International Learning Environment
Because IIBT operates within an international academic and professional environment, students may interact with faculty, professionals, researchers, and learners from different countries and professional backgrounds.
Students are encouraged to respect cultural diversity, professional standards, academic freedom, and the principles of ethical conduct that underpin Islamic Finance.
21. Quality and Continuous Improvement
IIBT is committed to continuously improving its academic programs, teaching methods, assessment practices, student services, and professional development activities.
Student feedback may be collected through surveys, evaluations, academic discussions, or other appropriate mechanisms and may be used to improve the quality of IIBT programs.
22. Acknowledgement by Students
By enrolling in an IIBT program, students acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with the applicable academic, administrative, financial, assessment, and conduct policies of the Institute.
Students are also responsible for reviewing any program-specific rules, guidelines, handbooks, or instructions issued during their studies.
